Welcome to Palate & Palette
I’m glad you are here! Palate & Palette is where I share my conversations with artists and food people about what they do, how they do what they do so well, and what inspires them. This is a free, biweekly-ish newsletter.
About me
I’m Amy Allen. I split time between Concord, MA, and Rockport, MA, with my husband and cat Graymo. We are often visiting art galleries in Cape Ann and further afield. We are fortunate to enjoy food from nearby farms in the warmer months. My conversations with artists and people who make great food sparked the creation of Palate & Palette.
Originally trained as a journalist, I have a master’s in Gastronomy from Boston University and studied nutrition at Tufts University. For many years, I worked as a content developer for healthcare companies, creating health education and marketing content. Now I am a freelance writer and editor who makes complex information easy for everyone to understand, crafts profiles and website content, ghostwrites biographies, produces feature articles and blogs, proofreads (ranging from recipes to product brochures to book manuscripts), and creates marketing communications.
I am open to supporting a variety of projects—whether you need help with a one-off project or ongoing support. Send me a message if you would like to collaborate!
I’m inspired by my parents, Emma Fordyce Macrae, Stapleton Kearns’ blog, Lynda Barry, Ana Sortun, Ruth Reichl, Corby Kummer, Joshua McFadden, Susan Spungen, Sam Sifton, Dice Iida-Klein, Austin Kleon, Tamar Adler, Mark Kurlansky, and everyone else who has a creative habit.
I aim to do cartwheels in every city I visit.
