On behalf of the Brackett’s and Brothers’ Brew Crew, we want to thank you for highlighting our business and our passion. We appreciate your patronage over the years, and we can’t wait to serve you soon!!
Thank you, Amy! We'll only be there one night on this trip (we're headed Maine-ward for a couple days) but if you have any recommendations, I'll definitely take them! I'm hoping this is the first of many coastal New England road trips.
For art viewing, walk around Main St and drop into the galleries and the Rockport Art Association (don't miss the back building gallery!) and then onto Bearskin Neck for galleries and water views. For lunch, if lobster rolls are your thing, go to Roy Moore's on Bearskin Neck, or get a takeout sandwich and donut at Brother's Brew and sit on the porch bench across the street, or go upscale for lunch or dinner at My Place by the Sea (great food and spectacular views). If you want nightlife, drive to Gloucester to Blue Collar Lobster, Oak to Ember, or the outdoor deck at Beauport Hotel and then listen to live music at Drift or the Rhumbline. If you like quirky-artful home museum tours, the Beauport Sleeper McCann house in Gloucester is really cool (make a reservation) and then you can drive down to road and see the Eastern Point lighthouse. I could go on...
This is such invaluable information! I just saved everything you wrote, both for this trip and hopefully for more visits in the future too. (and yep, lobster rolls are definitely something I enjoy. I'm noting that in particular.) I absolutely love getting recommendations from someone who actually knows the place. Thank you thank you!!
I don't know for sure, and I think some research is in order! They are deep fried, and they make some yeasted types and some cake types. I will ask next time I'm there.
I love hearing about family-run businesses. I remember well that line from Dunkin ads when they were still Dunkin Donuts. The doughnuts sound delicious. Lucky you!
What a great question! I think I'd have to go in a totally different direction and make an elegant salad, but then we need dessert. I'm reading "The Everlasting Meal Cookbook: Leftovers A-Z" by Tamar Adler, and she suggests making a bread pudding with donuts, so I would serve that too.
My family's donut ritual for years was Top Pot donuts in Seattle! I can totally appreciate your affection for a very specific donut from a specific small business.

Jenny!! Thanks so much for your comment. It's people like you who make Rockport and Brother's friendly places where we want to be.
Beauty in donuts! Even a diabetic can appreciate the photos!
Thanks Steve!
Delicious!!
Rarely do….
I really like this article. It makes me want to eat a doughnut, which is something I really do. It’ll definitely be from the brew.
Could be a nice reward after a very long walk!
I’ll have to make a point of testing them. The last time I had one was at a bakery in Elliott City, Maryland.
Oh great! Let me know if the Brother's Brew donuts are similar to the "fastnacht" donuts you like so much!
This is such perfect timing! I'm planning a road trip through Rockport this month and now I know EXACTLY what I want. ♥️
How cool! Let me know if you need more suggestions about what to do in Rockport. September is such a great time for a visit!

Are these my favorite German style deep fried doughnuts?

Your profiles usually conclude with a description of a meal you might prepare for them. What would you make for them?

Loved this story, Amy. Generally, I don’t “do” donuts, it sounds like I’ll have to make an exception!
So glad you liked it!
