I had the fortune of painting with Charles Movalli on Monhegan Island, years ago, with my dear friend and Mentor, Don Stone.
This was after Charles had switched from oils to acrylics because of a blood disorder.
He never missed a beat even though acrylics act differently than oils. Acrylics dry very fast and darker than when painting.
He had a little spray bottle in his left hand, palette on his lap and continually sprayed the slurry on his palette. He would look at his subject and like a mosaic artist putting down his mark to create the scene. Amazing.
