Very instructive and helpful, yet interesting. Thanks, again.

I find it interesting that so many formally trained architects become painters, and particularly watercolorists. Tom Bucci commented that this inclination among middle aged and older architects stems from being trained to render their designs before there were computer programs to do it. Frederick Kubitz is another architect/painter of renown. Meghan Weeks (previously interviewed by Amy) is also a trained architect.

"Many painters start with watercolors and then switch to oil painting."

I had no idea! Aside from this being a super-interesting post I think that quote is fascinating to ponder, and now wonder if that might be my eventual path as well.

I'm glad you liked the story. Many painters I've interviewed started in watercolors. I will be interested to see if you make the transition to oil painting.

So much good information and beautiful work from Thomas Bucci. I'd never heard of that process of preserving a watercolor so that it doesn't need to be behind glass. I love those loose little thumbnails. Thank you!

Thank you Vicki! As I can see, I am a fan too. I learned so much talking to Tom and seeing the thumbnail sketches that he uses almost like notes.

Amy, my favorite interview on so many levels. As a new water color painter, I learned so much. Also a wonderful into to CAPA and Plein Air Painting.

Thanks, You are good at Drawing Artists out of themselves to reveal what they think and create. I am not a watercolor painter, work in oils and thoroughly enjoyed reading about watercolor.
